Why it works

Matte and comfortable are often seen as opposites, and usually for good reason: a matte color is long-lasting because it contains very little oil, and that is exactly what makes lips feel dry. Glo solves this by carrying the matte pigments in shea butter and mango seed oil, fats that keep the lips soft without letting the color slide. It also contains an antioxidant complex with vitamins C and E and plant extracts, which protects the lips against external influences.

The texture is velvety and matte. The color applies fully in one swipe, does not smudge, does not bleed into the lines around your mouth, and barely leaves a trace.

About this color

Trademark is an earthy, neutral rose: pink with a hint of brown, making it look more muted than a pure pink. Medium-deep, full-coverage, and with an undertone that works with just about any skin tone. One of the calmest colors in the range.

For whom

For anyone who wants a color that lasts through a long day without needing a touch-up every hour: a workday, a party, an evening that goes on late. Matte is also often the better choice if you have fine lines around your mouth, as it is less likely to bleed than gloss. If you have very dry lips, this will not be your first choice, unless you wear a balm underneath it.

How to use it

First, trace the edge and then fill in the entire lip, otherwise you will see a border when the color fades. After applying, blot lightly with a tissue and apply a second thin layer. That second layer is what makes it last for hours. Use light pressure; the crayon is softer than it looks, and sharpen it with a pencil sharpener. Blended on the apples of your cheeks, it also works as a blush.

A tip from me

Matte is often discouraged for those with dry lips, and I think that’s a bit simplistic. It’s all about what you put underneath. Gently exfoliate your lips in the shower with a washcloth, let a balm soak in for about five minutes, blot off the excess, and only then apply the color. That’s how I do it in the salon as well. What you should know honestly: a matte color will emphasize any flake that is still there. It doesn't hide anything; it just lays color over what is already there. That’s why those five minutes beforehand make such a difference.
