Why it works

Matte and comfortable are often seen as opposites, and usually for good reason: a matte color is long-wearing because it contains little oil, and that is exactly what makes lips dry. Glo solves this by suspending the matte pigments in shea butter and mango seed oil, fats that keep the lips soft without causing the color to slip. It also contains an antioxidant complex with vitamins C and E and plant extracts, which protects the lips against external environmental factors.

The texture is velvety and soft-matte. The color applies fully in one swipe, does not smudge, does not bleed into the lines around your mouth, and barely leaves a trace.

About this shade

Angel is a fresh, cool pink: bright and light, without any orange or brown undertones. It instantly brightens your face and looks particularly good on cool or fair skin. Because it is full-coverage, it looks more defined than you would expect from a light pink.

For whom

For those who want a color that lasts through a long day without needing a touch-up every hour: a workday, a party, an evening that goes on late. Even if you have fine lines around your mouth, matte is often the better choice, as it is less likely to bleed than gloss. If you have very dry lips, this might not be your first choice, unless you wear a balm underneath.

How to use it

Trace the edge first and then fill in the lip completely; otherwise, you might see a rim as it fades. After applying, blot with a tissue and apply a second thin layer. That second layer is what makes it last for hours. Use light pressure, the stick is softer than it looks, and sharpen it with a crayon sharpener. Smudged onto the apples of your cheeks, it also works as a blush.

A tip from me

Matte is often discouraged for those with dry lips, but I think that is an oversimplification. It is about what you put underneath it. Rub your lips gently in the shower with your washcloth, let a balm soak in for about five minutes, blot away the excess, and then apply color. That is how I do it in the salon as well. One thing you should honestly know: a matte color emphasizes every little flake that is still there. It hides nothing; it puts color on what is there. That is why those five minutes beforehand make such a difference.
