Description

A mineral powder foundation that evens out your skin without looking like you're wearing anything at all. You can build the coverage yourself, from light to full.

Why it works

Powder foundation has a bad reputation for many people: dry, cakey, and settling into fine lines after a few hours. That is rarely the fault of the powder itself, and almost always due to how finely it is milled. The minerals and mica in this base are triple-milled, which allows them to lay over your skin rather than sinking into it. You get a soft, semi-matte finish that diffuses light, with no white cast in photos.

It also contains skincare ingredients: vitamins C and E as antioxidants, and green tea extract to keep the skin calm. Talc-free. The texture feels weightless, and after half an hour, you won't even notice it's there.

Who it's for

For all skin types, including sensitive skin and skin that has just undergone a treatment. It works particularly well for combination or oily skin and for skin that is prone to breakouts: it is oil-free, and you can safely apply it over a pimple.

It is also perfect for drier skin. In that case, the preparation makes the difference: ensure your skincare has fully absorbed before you begin.

How to use it

Apply your serum, cream, and any primer first, and give them time to absorb. Then, using a kabuki brush or a sponge, press the powder into your skin with short, stippling motions instead of sweeping. Sweeping moves the product around; pressing keeps it in place. Start in the center of your face and work outward. If you want more coverage in certain areas, apply a second thin layer rather than working with a thick layer right away.

About this shade

Tawny Fair is the lightest depth within the tawny family. This family leans in a warm, yellowish-brown direction.

A final tip from me

The mistake I see most often is not the foundation, but the shade selection. Test your color on your jawline, in daylight, and not on the back of your hand. Your hand is rarely the same color as your face and almost always leads you to a shade that is too dark. If you are debating between two, choose the lighter one. You can always fix a shade that is too light with a bronzer, but a shade that is too dark will remain visible along your jawline all day long.

And one more thing: most people use too much. A thin layer exactly where you need it is more beautiful than a uniform mask over your entire face. Your skin should be allowed to look like skin.
