Description
A mineral powder foundation that evens out your skin without looking like you’re wearing anything at all. You can build the coverage yourself, from light to full.
Why it works
Powder foundation has a bad reputation for many people: dry, cakey, and settling into fine lines after a few hours. That is rarely due to the powder itself and almost always due to how finely it is milled. The minerals and mica in this base are triple-milled, allowing them to sit on top of your skin rather than sinking into it. You get a soft, semi-matte finish that diffuses light, without a white cast in photos.
It also contains skincare: vitamins C and E as antioxidants, and green tea extract to keep the skin calm. Talc-free. The texture feels weightless, and after half an hour, you won't even notice it.
For whom
For all skin types, including sensitive skin and skin that has just undergone a treatment. It works particularly well for combination or oily skin and for skin that is prone to breakouts: it contains no oil, and you can safely apply it over a pimple.
It is also perfect for drier skin. The difference lies in the preparation: make sure your skincare has truly absorbed before you begin.
How to use it
Apply your serum, cream, and potentially a primer first, and give them time to absorb. Then, using a kabuki brush or a sponge, press the powder into your skin with short, dabbing motions rather than sweeping. Sweeping moves the product around; pressing sets it in place. Start in the center of your face and work outwards. If you want more coverage in certain areas, apply a second thin layer instead of starting with a thick application.
About this shade
Natural Medium sits in the middle of the natural family in terms of depth. That family is the neutral line in this range: not distinctly warm and not distinctly cool.
A final tip
The mistake I see most often is not the foundation, but the shade selection. Test your color on your jawline, in daylight, and not on the back of your hand. Your hand is rarely the same color as your face and will almost always lead you to a shade that is too dark. If you are debating between two, choose the lighter one. A shade that is too light can be balanced out with a bronzer, while one that is too dark will remain visible on your jawline all day.
And one more thing: most people use too much. A thin layer where you need it is more beautiful than an even mask over your entire face. Your skin should be allowed to look like skin.
