Description
A mineral powder foundation that evens out your skin without looking like you’re wearing anything. The coverage is buildable, from light to full.
Why it works
Powder foundation has a bad reputation for many people: dry, cakey, and visible in fine lines after a few hours. That is rarely the fault of the powder itself and almost always due to how finely it is milled. The minerals and mica in this base are triple-milled, which allows them to lay over your skin instead of settling into it. You get a soft, semi-matte finish that diffuses light, without a white cast in photos.
It also contains skincare ingredients: vitamins C and E as antioxidants, and green tea extract to keep the skin calm. Talc-free. The texture feels weightless, and after half an hour, you won’t even think about it anymore.
For whom
For all skin types, including sensitive skin and skin that has just undergone a treatment. It works particularly well for combination or oily skin and for skin that is prone to breakouts: it is oil-free, and you can safely apply it over a blemish.
It is also perfect for drier skin. The difference lies in the prep: ensure your skincare has fully absorbed before you begin.
How to use it
Apply your serum, moisturizer, and primer (if using) first, and give them time to absorb. Then, using a kabuki brush or a sponge, press the powder into your skin with short, dabbing motions instead of wiping. Wiping moves the product around; pressing keeps it in place. Start in the center of your face and work outwards. If you need more coverage in certain areas, apply a second thin layer instead of applying it thickly all at once.
About this shade
Cocoa Medium sits in the middle of the cocoa family in terms of depth. That family is the deepest line in this range, with a cocoa-brown color direction.
A little advice
The mistake I see most often is not the foundation, but the shade choice. Test your color on your jawline, in daylight, and not on the back of your hand. Your hand is rarely the same color as your face and almost always leads you to a shade that is too dark. If you are debating between two, choose the lighter one. A shade that is too light can be balanced out with bronzer; a shade that is too dark will remain visible along your jawline all day long.
And another thing: most people use too much. A thin layer where you need it is more beautiful than a uniform mask over your entire face. Let your skin remain skin.
