Description
A weekly retinol mask for skin that looks tired and uneven, with a texture that feels rougher than you would like.
Why it works
What a mask does is often confused with what you feel: many people think tingling is proof. This contains micro-encapsulated retinol, which works on the exact opposite principle. Because of the encapsulation, the retinol is released gradually rather than all at once, giving your skin the renewal signal without the irritation you would expect from a strong product. Furthermore, Biosaccharide gum-1 counteracts discomfort and retains moisture, keeping the skin supple while it renews.
The texture is a soft, creamy layer that feels comfortable on the skin.
For whom
For those who see fine lines and an uneven texture, or have a complexion that looks dull. Also interesting if your skin easily becomes blemished, which you wouldn't necessarily expect from a renewal mask. This mask is not the right choice for truly sensitive skin; in that case, we are better off looking at a gentler variant.
How to use it
Once a week, in the evening. Cleanse your skin thoroughly, pat dry, and apply an even layer to your face, neck, and décolleté. Leave it on for ten to fifteen minutes and rinse off with lukewarm water. Follow with your regular evening routine of serum and cream. Retinol makes your skin more sensitive to the sun, so be sure to wear broad-spectrum sun protection in the days that follow. Where things often go wrong: people leave the mask on longer in the hope of better results. That is not how it works; here, longer mainly means a greater chance of irritation.
What I would like to share with you
This is not a mask for the night before a party. It works on renewal, and renewal takes time: count on six to eight weeks of weekly use before you really see the texture change. Where things go wrong is the combination: people use this mask and, in the same week, also use a retinol cream and a scrub. Then the skin becomes overstimulated and the mask gets the blame. One strong stimulus per week is enough. With clients who maintain that rhythm, I see skin that just looks fresher after a month or two.
