Why it works

The classic lip balm you need to reapply every half hour just perpetuates the problem: your lips become lazy from a layer that only glides on and does nothing else. This balm works on two levels simultaneously. A wax-based formula with shea butter creates a layer that stays on for hours and slows down evaporation, while a small amount of salicylic acid loosens flakes so you don't have to pick at them. Bisabolol and vitamin E soothe, retinyl palmitate works on fine lines around your lip contour, and menthol provides a cooling sensation.

The texture is firm and waxy, not shiny, and feels more like a thin protective layer than a glossy one.

For anyone whose lips flake and crack in the winter, or who remain dry all year round despite having a handbag full of balms. For those who breathe through their mouth at night. Also, for those who wouldn't immediately link it: if you use a strong product with retinol or acids on your face, some always ends up on the lip contour, and this is the product that takes care of that area.

How to use it

As often as necessary, during the day and in the evening, and definitely apply a thicker layer before going to bed. Include the contour around your lips, not just the red part. What almost everyone gets wrong: wetting or licking their lips before applying. Saliva evaporates and further dries out your lips, so apply it to dry lips. And never pull at a flake; let the acid do that work.

What I'd like you to know

You will feel the comfort immediately, but lips that have been damaged for weeks need about ten days to stay smooth without needing constant reapplication. That is exactly the point where people give up and reach for their old stick. Keep at it until you notice you need it less often, because that is the sign that it is working. And apply it generously in the evening: your lips get eight hours of rest then, and that is where the difference is made.
