Description

A serum for an uneven complexion and pigment spots: sun spots, spots that appeared during pregnancy or due to the pill, and dark marks left behind after a breakout.

Why it works

A pigment spot is not dirt that you can scrub off, which is why scrubbing harder does not help. The spot forms deeper down: pigment cells produce too much pigment and pass it on to the surrounding cells. This formula addresses both of these steps. Niacinamide primarily inhibits the transfer, arbutin and glutathione interfere with the production itself, and mandelic acid and phytic acid ensure that the already pigmented cells rise to the surface and shed more quickly. A low dose of retinol speeds up that turnover.

The texture is light and fluid and leaves no shine after it has been absorbed.

For whom

For anyone suffering from pigment spots: sun spots on the cheeks or temples, a somewhat hazy spot on the upper lip or forehead that appeared after a pregnancy or a change in pill, or dark spots left behind after a breakout. Also for those who do not have a single clear spot but do have a complexion that looks uneven: pigment is often spread out before it clusters together somewhere.

How to use it

One to two pumps on cleansed, dry skin, in the morning and/or evening, on your entire face and not just on the spot. That is where it usually goes wrong: people only dab it on the dark areas. You then get a lighter spot within an uneven complexion, and that is even more noticeable. Treat the whole area. And sunscreen here is not advice but half the work: one sunny week without protection sets you back by weeks.

What I would like to tell you

Pigment requires more patience than anything else. Count on eight to twelve weeks before you see a difference, and know that spots that have been there for years react more slowly than fresh ones. What I see with clients who persevere: the edges of the spots soften first and only then do they become lighter. Also, preferably start in the autumn or winter and not in May. The biggest setback I encounter is the same every year: a summer without a hat and without sunscreen.
