A serum for impure, oily skin that clogs easily and is prone to breakouts: shiny zones, blackheads, and bumps that keep coming back.

Why it works

Impure skin is almost never a matter of not washing enough, nor is it rarely just a matter of too much oil. Usually, the skin is dehydrated from within, which is exactly why it produces extra sebum. Salicylic acid is the key here, because it dissolves in oil and can therefore enter the pore to clear it from the inside out. Mandelic acid works on the surface, more slowly and gently than the acids you know from the store. Zinc gluconate and azeloglycine help balance sebum production, niacinamide makes the red circle around a bump less noticeable, and chamomile with glycyrrhetinic acid soothes.

The texture is light and slightly watery and does not leave a greasy layer.

For whom

For those with a shiny T-zone, visible pores, blackheads on the nose and chin, and a bump appearing time and again in the same spot. Also for skin in its forties that never used to have breakouts but is now getting them around the chin: that combination of impurities and fine lines at the same time is more common than you think, and does not need a harsh teen routine.

How to use it

One to two pumps on cleansed, dry skin, in the morning and/or evening, over your entire face. The detail almost everyone gets wrong: only treating the oily zones and skipping the rest. Sebaceous glands are everywhere, and the spots you skip will continue to fuel the problem. Follow with a light cream, even if your skin feels oily. Skipping that cream just makes it worse.

What I would like to leave you with

Give it four to six weeks, and don't expect it to be a straight, linear process. The first two weeks it sometimes seems to get busier on your skin: what was already under the surface comes up faster. That's where most people give up. Those who persevere usually see the redness around the bumps subside first, and only after that do fewer new ones appear. And keep your hands off your face: squeezing one bump will cost you weeks of work on the dark spot that remains afterwards.
