Heliocare Oral capsules - 60 count

A capsule you take before going out into the sun, as a supplement to your sunscreen. Not as a replacement for it.

What's inside

Per capsule: 240 mg Fernblock, the standardized extract of the fern Polypodium leucotomos upon which Heliocare is built, 50 mg green tea extract, and 800 micrograms of beta-carotene, providing 100% of the reference intake for vitamin A. A box contains 60 capsules.

Additionally: maltodextrin as a filler, magnesium salts of fatty acids, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, and iron oxides for the capsule shell.

What I am allowed to say about it

Beta-carotene is a source of vitamin A, and vitamin A contributes to the maintenance of normal skin. That dosage easily exceeds the threshold, so that sentence is permitted here.

I cannot attribute any specific effect to the fern extract or the green tea. They are listed here by name and quantity, nothing more. The old text included a sentence about protecting cells against oxidative stress: that claim requires a nutrient for which it has been officially approved, and it is not present here in sufficient quantities. Therefore, that sentence has been removed.

For whom

For normal to sun-sensitive skin, during periods when you spend a lot of time outdoors. Not suitable for skin with brown spots; that is an explicit restriction from the manufacturer itself. Not for children, and not without consulting your doctor during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or if you are under medical supervision.

How to use them

One capsule per day, approximately half an hour before going out into the sun. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Store in a cool, dry place, out of the reach of children. A food supplement is not a substitute for a varied diet and a healthy lifestyle.

What I would like to emphasize

This is the product about which I hear the most misunderstandings, so I prefer to say it twice: a capsule does not replace your sunscreen. Not on a beach vacation, not while cycling, not in the garden. You apply sunscreen, and this is on top of that.

What I see in the clinic is that people buy these capsules and then unconsciously become a bit more careless with their cream, because they feel they have already done something. That is exactly the opposite of what you want. Anyone trying to treat pigmentation can undo months of work in a single careless afternoon.

So take them as a supplement, and keep applying and reapplying sunscreen. That is how it makes sense.
