Heliocare 360° Mineral Tolerance Fluid SPF 50 - 50 ml

Why it works

Sun filters belong to two families. Chemical filters absorb radiation and convert it; mineral filters sit on the skin and largely reflect it. For reactive skin, the latter is often gentler, because less activity occurs within the skin itself. This fluid works with one hundred percent mineral filters and provides high broad-spectrum protection: SPF 50+ against UVB, plus UVA, visible light, and infrared.

The classic objection to mineral filters is the white cast. This has been addressed here: the texture is fluid and fine, and it leaves no gray haze even on darker skin tones.

This also contains Fernblock, the fern extract that Heliocare uses as an antioxidant alongside the filters.

For whom

For sensitive, reactive, or intolerant skin, and for anyone who prefers to use only mineral filters. This is also the logical choice in the weeks following a peel, a laser treatment, or an intensive skin-rejuvenating course, when your skin cannot handle anything extra. If your skin is primarily red or you have rosacea, take a look at the MD A-R Emulsion, which addresses those concerns more specifically.

How to use it

Shake before use: mineral filters settle at the bottom of the bottle, and if you don't shake it, you will apply too little filter during the first few days and too much toward the end. Apply a generous, even layer every morning as the final skincare step. Two finger lengths worth for the face, ears, and neck. Reapply every two hours during exposure.

What I’d like you to keep in mind

Sensitive skin often requires as few products as possible, and sunscreen is usually the first thing to be dropped. A shame, because it is the very product that provides the most peace for your skin in the long run. It is better to choose one formula that you tolerate well and use it every day, than to use something heavy only occasionally.

Also: almost no one applies enough. You only achieve the SPF on the box by applying a generous layer and reapplying every two hours. Complete protection does not exist, not even with mineral filters, so continue to seek shade during the peak hours.
