Glo Skin Beauty Satin Lipstick - Peach Bliss

A classic lipstick with a satin finish: full color, but with a soft sheen rather than high-gloss or flat matte.

Why it works

Lipstick that stays on for hours usually does so at the expense of comfort. Or it stays soft, and after the first cup of coffee, it's all over your bag. Glo tackles this with kaolin clay in the formula: it absorbs excess oil, allowing the color to set without needing a drying top layer. Meanwhile, shea butter and castor oil keep the lips supple, while vitamin E and green tea extract protect and soothe.

The texture is creamy and glides on smoothly from the bullet. The finish is satin: you see a sheen, but no mirror-like reflection. The color barely transfers, melts, or bleeds.

About this color

Peach Bliss is a warm peach-nude: soft pinkish-orange, light and summery. It looks best on warm or golden skin tones. On a very cool complexion, it may appear a bit orange, in which case you are better off with French Nude or In Bloom.

For those who want a real lipstick rather than a tinted balm: full coverage, distinct color, and something that lasts through the day. Satin is also the middle ground for those who find matte too harsh but gloss too slippery. You get the longevity of a lipstick with just enough sheen to keep the lips from looking flat. Also suitable if your lips feel dry easily, thanks to the shea butter and oil in the base.

How to use it

Straight from the bullet, or with a fine brush if you want a sharp edge. The latter makes all the difference with a darker color. If you want it to last longer, fill in your lips completely with a lip liner first, including the center, and apply the lipstick over it. A common mistake: people press their lips together after application. That just pushes the color toward the edges. Instead, blot once with a tissue and apply a second thin layer.

A final tip

The question I get asked most often is which color suits someone, and the answer is almost never in the color itself, but in the undertone. Hold the bullet against the inside of your wrist in daylight: if you see bluish veins, cool colors will suit you better; if you see greenish ones, then warm. That trick takes five seconds and saves you over an hour of indecision. And another thing: a lipstick lasts longer than you think, but not indefinitely. If it smells waxy or no longer glides on smoothly, it’s time to let it go. I personally count on about two years.
