Glo Skin Beauty Satin Lipstick - French Nude

Why it works

Lipstick that stays on for hours usually comes at the cost of comfort. Or it stays soft, and then it’s all over your bag after the first cup of coffee. Glo solves this with kaolin clay in the formula: it absorbs excess oil, allowing the color to set without needing a drying top layer. Meanwhile, shea butter and castor oil keep the lips supple, while vitamin E and green tea extract protect and soothe.

The texture is creamy and glides on smoothly. The finish is satin: you see a sheen, but no mirror-like reflection. The color barely transfers, melts, or bleeds.

About this color

French Nude is a pink-toned nude: a nude with pink in it rather than beige, which makes it look fresher than a classic nude and less likely to wash out your face. It works with almost any skin tone, making it a great starter lipstick.

How to use it

Direct from the tube, or with a fine brush if you want a sharp edge. The latter makes all the difference with a dark color. If you want it to last longer, fill in your lips completely with a lip liner first, including the center, and apply the lipstick over it. A common mistake: people press their lips together after application. This just pushes the color toward the edges. Instead, dab once with a tissue and apply a second thin layer.

My advice

The question I get asked most often is which color suits someone, and the answer almost never lies in the color itself but in the undertone. Hold the stick against the inside of your wrist in daylight: if you see bluish veins, cool colors will suit you better; if you see greenish ones, warm colors will. That trick takes five seconds and saves more than an hour of doubting. And another thing: a lipstick lasts longer than you think, but not forever. If it smells waxy or no longer glides on smoothly, it’s time to let go. I personally count on about two years.
