Emmagen - Hyal Serum

A pure hyaluronic acid serum that plumps your skin from within while preparing it for what comes next. The second step of the Hydra and Glow routine.

Why it works

The ingredient list is strikingly short, and that is a deliberate choice here, not a shortcoming. The heart of the formula is 1 percent high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid: large molecules that form a moisture reservoir on the skin's surface. In addition, it contains glycerol as a secondary humectant and sodium lactate, a gentle alpha-hydroxy acid that both binds moisture and softens the top layer. Plump skin is therefore not a matter of filling it with a thick cream, but of keeping water in the right place. Because it contains so few ingredients, the chance of a reaction is small, even for skin that reacts to almost everything.

The texture is liquid and light. No slippery film like you get with some hyaluronic acid serums.

For whom

For any skin that looks a bit hollow and dull, and for those who suffer from dehydration lines—those fine lines that are there in the morning and gone after an hour. Also interesting as preparation for or recovery after more intensive treatments like microneedling or a peel, when your skin mainly needs rest and moisture. Gentle enough for the eye contour.

How to use it

One pump on skin that is still damp from the Hyal Balancing Lotion. That detail is more important than it sounds: hyaluronic acid binds water, and if there is no water on your skin, it will draw it from the deeper layers. On damp skin, it works the exact opposite way. Include your eye contour. Follow with the Hyal C-Glow or your own cream. It contains a mild acid, so apply sunscreen over it in the morning.

What I would like to share

The manufacturer had this serum tested and reports significant figures regarding hydration, firmness, and suppleness. I prefer to translate that into what I see myself: the skin feels plumper within a few days and dehydration lines become less noticeable. Do not expect any effect on deeper wrinkles, as this product is not designed for that. What I also honestly say at the checkout: this is not a cheap bottle, and it does one thing very well. If your skin is primarily dry and dull, it is a bullseye. If you are looking for something for pigmentation or sagging, you are better off looking at another product, or take the full Hydra and Glow set.
