Glo Skin Beauty HD Mineral Foundation Stick - Ebony 12C

A creamy foundation in stick form that you apply directly to your skin and blend out. You can use it as a foundation, a concealer, and with a shade darker or lighter, also for contouring or highlighting.

Why it works

A stick might sound like a lot of product, but in practice, you usually use less than you would with a liquid foundation: you only apply it where you need it. The cream melts at skin temperature, which allows it to adhere to your skin instead of sitting on top of it. Hence that second-skin finish.

The formula contains hyaluronic acid, a moisture-binding ingredient that retains water in the upper layers of your skin, so the coverage doesn't dry out throughout the day. It also contains mineral pigments and an antioxidant complex with vitamins C and E.

The coverage ranges from light to full, depending on how much you apply and how much you blend it out. The texture is creamy and light.

For whom

For all skin types, and especially great if your skin reacts easily. It is also practical if you have little time or want to be able to touch up on the go: you don't need a brush, your fingers will suffice.

This works perfectly for oilier skin as well. Just apply it thinly and set it with a powder.

How to use it

Swipe the stick directly onto your skin in short lines on the areas where you want coverage. Then blend it out with your fingertips or a brush using tapping motions instead of wiping: the warmth of your fingers helps the cream melt.

If you want to contour, take a shade or two darker and apply it under your cheekbones, along your hairline, on the sides of your nose, and on your jawline. For highlighting, do the same with a shade or two lighter on your forehead, brow bone, cheekbones, and chin.

About this shade

Ebony 12C is the deepest shade in the range, with a cool undertone. The number in the name indicates the depth, from 1 (lightest) to 12 (deepest). The letter after it stands for the undertone: C is cool, N is neutral, and W is warm.

A tip from me

Test your shade on your jawline, in daylight, and not on the back of your hand. Your hand is rarely the same color as your face and almost always leads you to a shade that is too dark. If you are doubting between two, go for the lighter one: a shade that is too light can be balanced out with a bronzer, while one that is too dark will remain visible all day.

Another tip from the cabin: most people twist the stick up way too far. Half a centimeter is more than enough, and this prevents the tip from breaking. Twist it all the way back down after use before putting the cap on to keep the surface neat.
