Why it works

Eyeshadow that creases by the afternoon is rarely the fault of the eyeshadow itself. The eyelid is one of the thinnest areas of skin on your face, yet it also produces oil. That thin layer of oil slowly dissolves pigment and pushes it toward the crease. This primer first lays down an even, lightly tinted film that powder can adhere to.

Additionally, it color-corrects, which is the part most people underestimate. An eyelid is almost never the exact same shade as the rest of your face: it is often redder, purpler, or darker. If you even that out first, any color you apply over it will look much closer to how it appears in the pot.

The formula contains cucumber extract and aloe vera to soothe and hydrate the skin, along with caffeine to make the eye contour look fresher. The texture is soft and creamy and stays flexible, moving with your eyelid instead of drying down into a tight layer.

For whom

For anyone who wears eyeshadow and notices that it fades or shifts after a few hours. Also suitable for more mature eyelids with fine lines: the thin base layer gives powder something to grip onto, preventing it from settling into those lines as easily. And even if you rarely use eyeshadow, this little pot can be useful. Worn on its own, your eyelid simply looks even and rested.

About this shade

Lace is a light, neutral beige. This is the most invisible shade in the collection: it evens out light skin without looking like you are wearing anything. The choice to make if you are primarily looking for grip for your eyeshadow and do not need color correction.

How to use it

Apply a thin stroke to your mobile eyelid with the applicator and blend it immediately with your ring finger or a flat eye brush, up to just below your brow bone. Work quickly, as the formula sets slightly, and if you wait too long to blend, you may be left with edges. Also, use less than you think you need: a thick layer is exactly what will cause creasing later on.

My advice

In the treatment room, I regularly see people invest in beautiful eyeshadow only to be disappointed because the color looks different on their eyelid than it does in the palette. Nine times out of ten, that isn’t the fault of the shadow, but of what is underneath it—or, rather, what isn't. This primer is the cheapest part of your eye makeup routine, yet it is the part that makes the biggest difference.

If you are doubting between two shades, choose the warmer of the two. Peach and caramel tones neutralize the blue-purple haze that most eyelids have, and that is exactly what you want. And don’t expect one pot to last for years: you only need a small stroke, but you will be using that stroke every single day.
