Obagi Medical - Elastiderm Facial Serum

A serum for skin that isn't so much wrinkled, but primarily feels less firm than it did a few years ago.

Why it works

Sagging and wrinkles are often lumped together, but they are two different things. Wrinkles are folds in the skin. Sagging is the loss of elasticity, and that lies in the elastin network: the tissue that pulls your skin back into place after movement. After your thirties, your body barely produces any new elastin. This serum addresses this with a combination of zinc, copper, and malonate, three elements that support the successive steps in the formation of healthy elastin.

That is also why a richer cream won't solve this: hydration makes your skin suppler, but not more resilient.

The texture is light and absorbs quickly, without any film or stickiness.

For whom

For every skin type, from normal to oily and from normal to dry. Especially useful if you notice that the contours of your face are becoming softer, or that your skin looks more crinkled when you gently pinch it.

If you already use the Elastiderm Eye Treatment Cream or the Lift Up & Sculpt day cream, this serum is a logical addition: apply the serum to the entire face first, then the creams.

How to use it

Morning and evening, two to three pumps on a cleansed and dry face, before your cream and your sun protection. Include your neck and décolleté; that is where sagging becomes visible most quickly.

What I would like to share with you

In the manufacturer's measurements, the majority of participants saw firmer-looking skin after about two months. My own experience in the treatment room is close to that, with one nuance: almost no one notices it themselves at the moment it happens. Sagging disappears as slowly as it appeared, and your reflection changes too gradually to notice.

So take a photo before you start. Straight on and one in profile, in daylight, without makeup. Place a new one next to it in two months. That is the only honest way to judge if this works for you, and it prevents you from stopping after three weeks because you don't see anything.
