Glo Skin Beauty Cream Stay Shadow Stick - Pitch

A creamy eyeshadow in stick form that you apply to your eyelid in one swipe and blend with your finger. For those who love eyeshadow but rarely have the time or patience to start using brushes.

Why it works

Powder eyeshadow needs something to hold onto. On an eyelid that gets a bit oilier throughout the day, powder collects in the crease, and by late afternoon, you see a line instead of color. A cream formula works differently: it adheres to the skin itself and then sets into a layer that doesn't budge.

Glo uses mineral pigments in a base of hydrogenated jojoba oil, a softening ingredient that helps the stick glide smoothly without tugging on the delicate skin of your eyelid. It also contains the antioxidants vitamin C and E. The manufacturer claims a wear time of up to twelve hours without the color creasing. How long it lasts on you depends on your skin and the warmth of the day, but you will notice the difference compared to loose powder immediately.

The texture is creamy and blends easily. You have about half a minute to blur the edges before it sets. There is a sharpener on the other end of the stick, so the tip stays fine, allowing you to also draw a line with it.

About this color

Pitch is a deep matte black, the most bold color in the range. Intended for a smokey eye or for a line along your lash line.

For whom

For those who like to keep it simple: one stick acts as eyeshadow, as a base under powder eyeshadow, and as an eyeliner. Also great if your eyes water easily or if powder always ends up under your eyes, as this formula doesn't dust. And on a more mature eyelid, where the skin is a bit looser and powder likes to settle into the folds, a cream is usually the more flattering choice.

How to use it

Apply two or three strokes to your eyelid and blend them immediately with your ring finger or a short, firm brush. Immediately, that is the whole point: once the formula sets, it won't move, and every edge will stay exactly where you placed it. It is better to build up in two thin layers than one thick one. If you want a line, sharpen the tip with the sharpener and draw it briefly along your lash line.

A note from me

The skin around your eye is thinner than the rest of your face and has no fat layer underneath to absorb pressure. What I see most often in the salon is that this area is overworked: rubbing, correcting, rubbing again. That daily pulling eventually does more damage than any product you put on it. So, use a light hand and tap away an edge instead of wiping it out.

And some honesty: a cream shadow stays on well, but it isn't indestructible. On a hot day or on a naturally oily eyelid, it may still shift. A thin base layer underneath makes more of a difference than a thicker layer of shadow.
