Glo Skin Beauty Cream Stay Shadow Stick - Orbit

A creamy eyeshadow in stick form that you apply to your eyelid in one swipe and blend with your finger. For anyone who loves eyeshadow but rarely has the time or patience to start using brushes.

Why it works

Powder shadow needs something to hold onto. On an eyelid that gets a bit oily throughout the day, powder gathers in the crease, and by late afternoon, you see a line instead of color. A cream formula works differently: it adheres directly to the skin and then sets into a layer that no longer moves.

Glo uses mineral pigments in a base of hydrogenated jojoba oil, an emollient that helps the stick glide smoothly without tugging at the delicate skin of your eyelid. It also contains the antioxidants vitamin C and E. The manufacturer claims it lasts up to twelve hours without creasing. How long it stays on depends on your skin and the warmth of the day, but you will notice the difference from loose powder immediately.

The texture is creamy and blends easily. You have about half a minute to diffuse the edges before it sets. There is a sharpener on the other end of the stick, so the tip stays fine and you can also use it to draw a line.

About this color

Orbit is a matte charcoal grey. Black without the harshness of black, making it wearable during the day as well.

For whom

For those who like to keep things simple: one stick serves as eyeshadow, a base under powder shadow, and eyeliner. Also great if your eyes water easily or if powder always ends up under your eyes, as this formula doesn't fall out. And on a more mature eyelid, where the skin is looser and powder likes to settle into the folds, a cream is usually the more subtle choice.

How to use it

Draw two or three strokes on your eyelid and blend them immediately with your ring finger or a short, firm brush. Immediately, that is the whole point: once the formula sets, it won't move, and every edge will stay exactly where you placed it. It is better to build up in two thin layers than one thick one. If you want a line, sharpen the tip with the built-in sharpener and draw it briefly along your lash line.

A tip from me

The skin around your eye is thinner than the rest of your face and has no fat layer underneath to absorb pressure. What I see most often in the salon is that this area is overworked: rubbing, correcting, rubbing again. That daily pulling does more damage over time than any product applied to it. So, work with a light hand, and tap an edge away instead of smearing it.

And some honesty: a cream shadow stays on well, but it isn't indestructible. On a warm day or on a naturally oily eyelid, it may still shift. A thin base layer underneath helps more than a thicker layer of shadow.
