Glo Skin Beauty Cream Stay Shadow Stick - Keepsake

A creamy eyeshadow in stick form that you apply to your eyelid in one swipe and blend with your finger. For anyone who loves eyeshadow but rarely has the time or patience to start using brushes.

Why it works

Powder eyeshadow needs something to hold onto. On an eyelid that gets a bit oilier throughout the day, powder collects in the crease, and by late afternoon, you see a line instead of color. A cream formula works differently: it adheres to the skin itself and then sets into a layer that doesn't shift.

Glo uses mineral pigments in a base of hydrogenated jojoba oil, a softening ingredient that makes the stick glide smoothly without pulling on the thin skin of your eyelid. It also contains the antioxidants vitamin C and E. The manufacturer claims a wear time of up to twelve hours without the color creasing. How long it lasts on you depends on your skin and the warmth of the day, but you will notice the difference from loose powder immediately.

The texture is creamy and blends easily. You have about half a minute to smudge the edges before it sets. On the other end of the stick is a sharpener, so the tip stays fine and you can also use it to draw a line.

For those who like to keep it simple: one stick serves as eyeshadow, as a base under powder eyeshadow, and as eyeliner. Also great if your eyes tear up easily or if powder always ends up under your eyes, as this formula does not dust. And on a more mature eyelid, where the skin is a bit looser and powder tends to settle into the fine lines, a cream is usually the more flattering choice.

How to use it

Apply two or three strokes to your eyelid and blend them immediately with your ring finger or a short, firm brush. Immediately—that is the whole point: once the formula sets, it won't move, and every edge will stay exactly where you placed it. Build up in two thin layers rather than one thick one. If you want a line, sharpen the tip with the sharpener and draw it briefly along your lash line.

What I’d like to share with you

The skin around your eye is thinner than the rest of your face and lacks a fat layer underneath to absorb pressure. What I see most often in the salon is that this area is overworked: rubbing, correcting, rubbing again. That daily pulling eventually does more damage than any product you put on it. So, use a light touch, and tap an edge away instead of smearing it.

And a little honesty: a cream shadow stays on well, but it isn't indestructible. On a warm day or on a naturally oily eyelid, it may still shift. A thin base layer underneath helps more than a thicker layer of shadow.
