Glo Skin Beauty Cream Stay Shadow Stick - Beam

A creamy eyeshadow in stick form that you apply to your eyelid in one swipe and blend out with your finger. For those who love eyeshadow but rarely have the time or patience to start working with brushes.

Why it works

Powder eyeshadow needs something to hold onto. On an eyelid that becomes a bit oily throughout the day, powder collects in the crease, and by late afternoon, you see a line instead of a color. A cream formula works differently: it adheres to the skin itself and then sets into a layer that no longer shifts.

Glo uses mineral pigments in a base of hydrogenated jojoba oil, an emollient ingredient that allows the stick to glide smoothly without pulling on the thin skin of your eyelid. It also contains the antioxidants vitamin C and E. The manufacturer claims a wear time of up to twelve hours without the color creasing. How long it lasts on you depends on your skin and the warmth of the day, but you will immediately notice the difference compared to loose powder.

The texture is creamy and blends easily. You have about half a minute to blur the edges before it sets. On the other end of the stick is a sharpener, so the tip stays fine, allowing you to draw a line with it as well.

About this color

Beam is a champagne-colored shade with a shimmer. Light enough to wear over your entire eyelid, and beautiful in the inner corner of your eye, where it helps open up your look.

For whom

For those who like to keep it simple: one stick acts as eyeshadow, a base under powder eyeshadow, and eyeliner. It’s also great if your eyes tear up easily or if powder always ends up under your eyes, because this formula doesn’t fall out. And on a more mature eyelid, where the skin is a bit looser and powder likes to settle into fine lines, a cream is usually the more flattering choice.

How to use it

Apply two or three strokes to your eyelid and blend them out immediately with your ring finger or a short, firm brush. Immediately—that is the whole point: once the formula sets, it won't budge, and every edge will stay exactly where you placed it. It is better to build it up in two thin layers rather than one thick one. If you want a line, sharpen the tip with the sharpener and draw it briefly along your lash line.

What I would like to pass on to you

The skin around your eyes is thinner than the rest of your face and has no fat layer underneath to absorb pressure. What I see most often in the salon is that this area is overworked: blending, correcting, blending again. In the long run, that daily pulling does more damage than any product you put on it. So, work with a light touch and tap an edge away instead of smudging it.

And a little honesty: a cream shadow stays on well, but it is not indestructible. On a hot day or on a naturally oily eyelid, it may still shift. A thin base layer underneath makes more of a difference than a thicker layer of shadow.
