Why it works

Shine and care rarely go hand in hand: many shiny lip products look great but end up drying out your lips because they contain little else. This formula is built around shea butter and mango seed oil, two fats that stay on the lip and lock in moisture. This is combined with an antioxidant complex featuring vitamins C and E and plant extracts, which protects the lips against external influences. The shine therefore does not come from a layer sitting on top, but from the fatty base itself. This is exactly why it isn't sticky.

The texture is creamy and glides on without dragging. It deposits full color and continues to feel like a balm, not like makeup.

About this color

Trademark is an earthy, neutral rose: pink with some brown infused, making it look more muted than a pure pink. Medium coverage and an undertone that works for just about every skin tone. One of the easiest colors in the range if you aren't sure which direction you want to go.

For whom

For those who have lips that feel dry or tight easily and therefore usually stick to a balm: here you get that same comfort, but with color. Also great if you notice your lips getting thinner, as shine catches the light and makes the lip appear fuller than a matte color would. And if you normally don't bother with lipstick because it's a hassle: this is a pencil you can apply without a mirror.

How to use it

Trace the edge of your lip first with the tip and then fill it in. You can also layer it over a matte lip crayon for depth of color instead of a flat look. What often goes wrong: pressing too hard. The formula is soft, you need very little pressure, and this also keeps the tip in better shape for longer. Sharpen it occasionally with a crayon sharpener. By the way, it also works on the cheeks and eyelids, which is handy if you want to pull one color throughout your whole look.

What I would like to share

In the studio, I often see dry lips that are then covered with a matte color, which only makes them feel tighter. If your lips are flaky, don't start with color but with a day or two of balm, then pick up this crayon. It simply looks much better on smooth lips. And honestly: shine doesn't last as long as matte. Count on a few hours and take it with you in your bag. That's not a flaw in the formula; that's just what shine does.
