Why it works

Shine and care rarely go hand in hand: many shiny lip products look beautiful, but dry out your lips in the process because they don't contain much else. This formula is built around shea butter and mango seed oil, two lipids that sit on the lip and lock in moisture. This is combined with an antioxidant complex of vitamins C and E and plant extracts, which protects the lips against external influences. The shine therefore does not come from a loose layer on top, but from the oily base itself. That is precisely why it is non-sticky.

The texture is creamy and glides on without dragging. It provides full color and continues to feel like a balm, not makeup.

About this color

Dahlia is a grape-like berry: cool, purplish, and the deepest shade in this range. It offers significantly more coverage than the nudes and is a color that people will notice. Great for cool or light skin tones. Because it is so pigment-rich, it is best to outline your lips before filling them in.

For whom

For those whose lips feel dry or tight and therefore usually stick to a balm: here you get that same comfort, but with color. Also great if you notice your lips are thinning, as shine catches light and makes the lip appear fuller than a matte color does. And if you normally don't wear lipstick because it's too much of a hassle: this is a stick you can apply without a mirror.

How to use it

First, trace the edge of your lip with the tip and then fill it in. You can also layer it over a matte lip crayon to add depth to the color instead of a flat look. A common mistake: pressing too hard. The formula is soft, you need very little pressure, and this will also keep your tip in better shape for longer. Sharpen it occasionally with a crayon sharpener. By the way, it also works on the cheeks and eyelids, which is handy if you want to harmonize your look across your entire face.

My advice to you

In the treatment room, I often see dry lips that are then covered with a matte color, which only makes them feel tighter. If your lips are flaky, don't start with color, but with a day or two of balm, and then use this crayon afterward. It simply looks much better on smooth lips. And to be honest: shine doesn't last as long as matte. Count on a few hours and carry it with you in your bag. That's not a flaw in the formula; that's just what shine does.
