A tinted compact with high sun protection in beige, for those who always want to use sunscreen but never reapply it in the afternoon.

Why it works

Sun protection loses its effectiveness throughout the day. Everyone knows this, and almost no one reapplies—because you don't apply a white cream over your makeup. A compact solves this problem: you powder up, and you're protected again.

Heliocare uses Fernblock, an extract from a fern that the brand has been using for years as an antioxidant alongside standard UV filters. And because the compact is tinted, it contains iron oxides. These don't just provide the color; they also shield against visible light, which is exactly the light that triggers pigmentation spots. A regular transparent sunscreen doesn't do that.

The finish is matte, the coverage light to medium. Oil-free and non-comedogenic.

For whom

For oily or combination skin, and especially for those dealing with pigmentation spots or melasma. Also great if you are undergoing a skin-improving treatment and your skin needs extra protection.

Beige is the medium shade: it suits light to light-tanned skin and is the color that fits most often. If you are doubting between two shades, choose the lightest one—a compact with sun filters acts primarily as protection, not as a foundation.

How to use it

As the last step in your morning routine, after your serum and cream, using the included sponge. Apply a generous, even layer. If you are in the sun, reapply every two hours.

A word of advice

To be honest about what a compact is and isn't: in practice, it rarely achieves the amount of product used to test the SPF in the lab. So don't count it as your only protection for a day at the beach. Where it is unbeatable is as a second and third layer throughout a normal workday—and that is exactly where most sun damage occurs, not on the beach, but through the car window and on the terrace during lunch.

My tip: keep it in your handbag, not in the bathroom. What’s in the bathroom gets used once a day.
