Description
I would like to discuss this product with you first. Not because it is complicated, but because I want to be honest with you about what you can and cannot expect from it. Feel free to send me a message or book a free intake.
Borage oil in softgels, cold-pressed from the seeds of the borage plant. Each capsule provides 1500 mg of oil with 300 mg of gamma-linolenic acid.
What's inside
Gamma-linolenic acid, or GLA for short, is an omega-6 fatty acid. Borage oil is the richest plant-based source of it, even richer than evening primrose oil, where you find it more often. If you take two capsules, you get 3000 mg of oil with 600 mg of GLA per day.
The ingredient list is short: borage oil, vitamin E, and the capsule itself. Please note that the capsule is made from bovine gelatin, so this product is not vegetarian. That is not always clearly stated, so I prefer to include it myself.
Why I chose this one
This is one that I take myself. I am not allowed to write anything here about its effects, but I can talk about my choice: the oil is cold-pressed instead of extracted with solvents, the ingredient list is four lines long, and with 300 mg of GLA per capsule, the dosage is on the high side of what you find on the market. With oils, that is the difference between knowing what you are taking and guessing.
Why you won't read any promises here
European legislation does not allow any health claims for GLA. Therefore, I am not allowed to write anything about its effects, and I am not going to circumvent that with vague wording. What I do, however, is discuss this product before you purchase it. Then you know why you are taking it and what is realistic.
How to use it
One to two capsules per day, with your evening meal. Take it with a meal because it is an oil. Store the jar in a dry, closed place at room temperature.
What I would like to share with you
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended. If you take blood thinners or other medication, please consult your doctor or pharmacist first. And as with any supplement, the following applies here too: it does not replace a balanced diet.
Do you want to know if this makes sense for your situation? Feel free to send me a message, and we can look at it together.
