Description

A mineral powder foundation that evens out your skin without making it look like you're wearing anything at all. You can build the coverage yourself, from light to full.

Why it works

For many people, powder foundation has a bad reputation: dry, powdery, and visible in fine lines after a few hours. That is rarely due to the powder itself and almost always due to how finely it is milled. The minerals and mica in this base are triple-milled, allowing them to sit on top of your skin instead of settling into it. You get a soft, semi-matte finish that diffuses light, without a white cast in photos.

It also contains skincare ingredients: vitamins C and E as antioxidants, and green tea extract to keep the skin calm. Talc-free. The texture feels weightless, and after half an hour, you won't even notice it's there.

For whom

For all skin types, including sensitive skin and skin that has just undergone a treatment. It works particularly well for combination or oily skin and for skin that is prone to breakouts: it contains no oil, and you can safely apply it over a blemish.

It is also perfect for drier skin. In that case, the preparation makes the difference: ensure your skincare has fully absorbed before you begin.

How to use it

Apply your serum, cream, and potentially a primer first, and give them time to absorb. Then, work with a kabuki brush or a sponge and press the powder into your skin using short, dabbing motions instead of sweeping. Sweeping moves the product around, while pressing sets it in place. Start in the center of your face and work outwards. If you want more coverage in a specific area, apply a second thin layer instead of starting with a thick one.

About this shade

Chestnut Medium is the deeper of the two chestnut shades. That family leans in a warm, chestnut-brown direction.

My advice

The mistake I see most often is not the foundation, but the shade choice. Test your color on your jawline, in daylight, and not on the back of your hand. Your hand is rarely the same color as your face and almost always leads you to a shade that is too dark. If you are debating between two, choose the lighter one. You can fix a shade that's too light with a bronzer, but a shade that's too dark will remain visible along your jawline all day.

And one more thing: most people use too much. A thin layer where you need it is more beautiful than an even mask over your entire face. Your skin should be allowed to remain skin.
