Glo Skin Beauty Luminous Setting Powder - Translucent

A loose mineral powder that sets your makeup without making your skin look matte or powdery.

Why it works

The problem with most setting powders isn't that they don't set, but that they strip away all radiance, making your skin look flat and aged. This powder works the other way around. It is finely milled and contains diamond powder and synthetic sapphire, two particles that reflect light rather than absorbing it. This leaves your skin looking even, while keeping it vibrant.

That light-reflecting effect also softens the appearance of fine lines. A line stands out because of the shadow within it; when the light is reflected more diffusely, that shadow softens. This is also why this powder doesn't settle into lines, unlike heavy, matte powders. The formula also includes an antioxidant complex with vitamins C and E.

For whom

For combination to dry skin, and especially for mature skin where classic matte powders often look chalky. Also for those who generally dislike powder: this is the kind you won't see on the skin. For very oily skin, it won't hold back shine as long as a true mattifying powder; that was a deliberate choice in the formula.

How to use it

Turn the tabs on the lid to the left until you hear a click to open the sifter. Tap a small amount into the lid, dip your brush in, and tap off the excess before applying it to your face. The latter is the step most people skip, and it's exactly why powder sometimes applies patchily. Work over your face with a large brush, and use a smaller, pointed brush under your eyes and in your T-zone.

A tip from me

Powder is meant to keep makeup in place, not to add another layer of coverage. Applying it heavily creates exactly the effect you want to avoid: skin that looks dry and caked. A light layer on the areas where your foundation shifts most quickly, around the nose and in the corners of the eyes, does more than a full layer over your entire face.

And a detail that often goes wrong: close the sifter again before putting the jar away. Otherwise, you'll find half your powder in your makeup bag, which is a waste.
