Description

The most neutral of the six flavors, and therefore the one you can drink for the longest. Vanilla is also the only one you can add your own ingredients to.

What it is

A plant-based meal replacement in powder form. You mix two level scoops, totaling 65 grams, with about 300 ml of water or a plant-based drink. This is one full meal, not a snack.

A bag contains 850 grams, enough for about thirteen shakes.

What's inside

The base is pea protein, oat flour, and inulin, with linseed oil and sunflower oil powder for the fats. Sweetened with steviol glycosides from stevia, thickened with xanthan gum. Plus a long list of vitamins and minerals: A, C, D3, E, K1, and the B vitamins, plus iron, zinc, magnesium, calcium, potassium, manganese, copper, chromium, iodine, and selenium.

Please note if you avoid gluten: it contains oat flour, which contains gluten. There is no lactose or soy, and no sugar has been added.

Nutritional value per 65-gram shake

249 kcal, 6.5 g fat of which 0.9 g is saturated, 14.9 g carbohydrates of which 0.9 g is sugar, 7.1 g fiber, 29.0 g protein, and 1.7 g salt.

Proteins contribute to the maintenance of muscle mass. With nearly thirty grams per serving, this statement belongs here, and that is exactly why I look at the protein content before placing a shake on the shelf.

For whom

For those who consistently eat too little or too quickly at lunchtime, and for those looking for a meal that requires no preparation. Also useful if you are temporarily unable to eat much or prefer liquid meals. Not for those who avoid gluten, and not during pregnancy or breastfeeding without consulting your doctor.

How to use it

One shake in place of one meal. Two a day is fine, but I advise against three: then you are no longer eating solid food, and that is never the intention. Shake vigorously in a shaker and drink it immediately. Vanilla works well with a handful of frozen fruit or a spoonful of nut butter if you want it to be more filling.

And take your time with it. A shake can be finished in two minutes, while it takes your body fifteen minutes to register that you have eaten. If you drink it too quickly, you will be raiding the cupboard half an hour later anyway.

What I would like to share with you

I am honest about what a shake is and what it is not. It replaces a meal; it does not replace a dietary pattern. Anyone who replaces their breakfast and then continues to eat what they always ate in the evening will not change much.

Where it does excel: filling the gap that would otherwise be filled with something much worse. The four o'clock cookie, the sandwiches on the road, the days when you don't stop until nine in the evening. It really helps with that.

And start with vanilla if you are in doubt. It is the flavor people get tired of the least quickly, and with shakes, that is more important than you might think.
