Description

The flavor with the highest protein content of the six, and the one that comes closest to something that feels like a treat.

What it is

A plant-based meal replacement in powder form. Mix two level scoops, totaling 65 grams, with approximately 300 ml of water or a plant-based drink. That is one full meal, not a snack.

One bag contains 850 grams, enough for about thirteen shakes.

What's inside

The base is pea protein, oat flour, and inulin, with linseed oil and sunflower oil powder for fats. Sweetened with steviol glycosides from stevia, thickened with xanthan gum. Plus a long list of vitamins and minerals: A, C, D3, E, K1, and the B vitamins, along with iron, zinc, magnesium, calcium, potassium, manganese, copper, chromium, iodine, and selenium.

Be careful if you avoid gluten: it contains oat flour, which contains gluten. There is no lactose or soy, and no sugar has been added.

Nutritional value per 65-gram shake

249 kcal, 6.8 g fat of which 1.1 g saturated, 13.3 g carbohydrates of which 0.8 g sugars, 7.2 g fiber, 31.1 g protein, and 1.7 g salt.

Protein contributes to the maintenance of muscle mass. With over thirty-one grams per serving, it is the highest of the six flavors in this regard.

Who it's for

For those who find it hard to resist sweets in the evening, and for those looking for a meal that requires no preparation. Also for those who exercise and want something with protein quickly after a workout. Not for those who avoid gluten, and not during pregnancy or breastfeeding without consulting your doctor.

How to use it

One shake in place of one meal. Two a day is fine; I advise against three. Shake vigorously in a shaker and drink immediately. Using a plant-based drink instead of water makes it creamier, but be sure to account for the calories in that drink.

Take your time. A shake can be finished in two minutes, while it takes your body fifteen minutes to realize you've eaten.

What I'd like to share with you

Chocolate is the flavor most frequently bought and the most frequently misused. People drink it as a dessert, on top of their dinner, because it's sweet and contains little sugar. But this is not a dessert; this is a meal of two hundred and fifty calories. If you drink it in addition to your meal instead of replacing it, you are doing the exact opposite of what you want.

Where it does work well: as an evening meal on days when you get home late and would otherwise be raiding the cupboards. That’s when the chocolate flavor really does its job.

And I’ll say it again: a shake replaces a meal, not an eating pattern.
