Glo Skin Beauty Cream Stay Shadow Stick - Echo

A creamy eyeshadow in stick form that you apply to your eyelid in one swipe and blend with your finger. For those who love eyeshadow but rarely have the time or patience to start using brushes.

Why it works

Powder eyeshadow needs something to hold onto. On an eyelid that gets a bit oily throughout the day, powder gathers in the crease, and by late afternoon, you see a line instead of a color. A cream formula works differently: it adheres to the skin itself and then sets into a layer that no longer shifts.

Glo uses mineral pigments in a base of hydrogenated jojoba oil, a softening ingredient that allows the stick to glide smoothly without tugging at the thin skin of your eyelid. It also contains the antioxidants vitamin C and E. The manufacturer claims a wear time of up to twelve hours without the color creasing. How long it stays on you depends on your skin and the warmth of the day, but you will notice the difference from loose powder immediately.

The texture is creamy and blends easily. You have about half a minute to blend the edges before it sets. There is a sharpener on the other end of the stick so the tip stays fine, allowing you to use it to draw a line as well.

About this color

Echo is a brown with a metallic sheen. Warmer and shinier than a regular brown, and especially beautiful on the mobile part of your eyelid.

For whom

For those who like to keep it simple: one stick acts as eyeshadow, as a base under powder eyeshadow, and as an eyeliner. It's also great if your eyes water easily or if powder always ends up under your eyes, because this formula doesn't create fallout. And on a more mature eyelid, where the skin is looser and powder tends to settle into the creases, a cream is usually the more flattering choice.

How to use it

Apply two or three strokes to your eyelid and blend them immediately with your ring finger or a short, firm brush. Immediately, that is the whole point: once the formula sets, it doesn't move anymore, and every edge stays exactly where you put it. It is better to build up in two thin layers rather than one thick one. If you want a line, sharpen the tip with the sharpener and draw it briefly along your lash line.

A note from me

The skin around your eye is thinner than the rest of your face and has no fat layer underneath to cushion the pressure. What I see most often in the salon is that this area is overworked: rubbing, correcting, rubbing again. In the long run, that daily tugging does more than any product applied to it ever could. So work with a light hand, and tap away an edge instead of smearing it.

And a little honesty: a cream shadow stays on well, but it isn't indestructible. On a warm day or on a naturally oily eyelid, it may still shift. A thin base layer underneath makes more of a difference than a thicker layer of shadow.
